Wii video capture/streaming driver issue

Sat Jun 09, 2018 9:24 pm

I am trying to make a device that i could just turn on, press a button and live stream to twitch from the raspberry pi
the idea for this build came from this youtube video from someone who made a similar project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ob-V1xI7c8I and this video about how he made it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FF4ToiF ... dex=2&t=0s

essentially i want to make that or something like that only using composite input instead of hdmi so i can stream from my wii or gamecube or other older systems.

I have a usb composite capture card but i cant get it to work. This is what the output is when i use lsusb in terminal:

Code: Select all

[email protected]:~ $ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 063: ID 1c88:0007 Somagic, Inc. SMI Grabber (EasyCAP DC60+ clone) (no firmware) [SMI-2021CBE]
Bus 001 Device 062: ID 05ac:021d Apple, Inc. Aluminum Mini Keyboard (ANSI)
Bus 001 Device 061: ID 05ac:1005 Apple, Inc.
Bus 001 Device 053: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMSC9512/9514 Fast Ethernet Adapter
Bus 001 Device 052: ID 0424:9514 Standard Microsystems Corp. SMC9514 Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
[email protected]:~ $
I've been searching for hours trying to figure out how to make it work and this is probably the most promising thing that I found: viewtopic.php?t=64077 but i have no idea what to actually do with any of it, im a toal beginner with linux stuff so any help at all would be greatly appreciated

Is this only for Steam? Is there a way to configure emulators to stream to my Retropie box? So if I want to play N64, Saturn, Wii, Wii U, PS3, etc that my PC can run but the Pi can't

Hi I have finally been able to get the Somagic EasyCap USB Grabber SMI-2021CBE working very well with a Raspberry Pi 4B+ 4 gb.
The ID is 1c88:0007 for a non initialised device. You can plug in the grabber and check this in a terminal with lsusb.
I have posted all the files to a public folder on my github site. There is a file installme.odt that guides you through the process.
The files are now available on github.

Best regards to all

Hey Mike - I’m interested in buying the same hardware but I read at the link below that it’s pretty unpredictable what you might get - did you buy yours online for shipment to the US? Care to share where ? Thanks !
