Fuse-sdl = blank screen in Raspbian Stretch

Sat Mar 10, 2018 7:05 pm

HI!

After extensive testing in both Stretch and Jessie, I have concluded the following:
Jessie - Fuse-sdl 1.1.1 works fine
Stretch - both Fuse-sdl 1.3.2 and 1.1.1 result in a blank screen

In both instances I am running from the command line, not in the window manager. When presented with a blank screen, I am able to navigate back to the command line 'blind' by typing F1-f-x.

From what I have gleaned from various posts on the net, a blank screen could be related to a bug or 'feature' of SDL1. There are minor version number differences in the library files between the two versions of the OS, but I can't see any way to downgrade SDL1 without breaking dependencies.

Any thoughts or input on this would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Yay - 100 reads and it's still a mystery! :)

The moral is, stay with Jessie and avoid Stretch. It not only breaks fuse-sdl but also the shutdown switch script by 8bitjunkie.

Stop using outdated and bit-rotten libs like SDL1. Use an SDL2 version of FUSE, if such a thing exists, build your own SDL2 from the latest stable sources (2.0.8) and it WILL work.
Ideally, skip SDL and use the FUSE core for libretro instead. End of mistery.
