Which version of Minecraft have you installed ? Have you installed Optifine also ?

There are links to run script files in the thread that allow server access for 1.8.9 with/without Optifine.

What server are you trying to connect to ?

You might need a newer version of Minecraft, 1.12.1 tutorial here viewtopic.php?f=78&t=186547

I've been looking to get 1.9.4 working, a friend of mine has a 1.9.4 server and can't upgrade for some reason. Despite multiple attempts to modify the run.sh file, I always get an error.

Code: Select all

Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: Using incremental CMS is deprecated and will likely be removed in a future release
2017-09-24 13:04:16,176 ERROR Error processing element Queue: CLASS_NOT_FOUND

	... 1 more
I tried using this and not the 1.12.1 one, because I assumed that 1.8.9 is closer to 1.9.4 than 1.12.1 is.
What exactly would I need to change in the run.sh?

Copied from last paragraph of 1.12.1 tutorial :

If you want to attempt getting a new version of Minecraft working :

1 Install required version using java -jar Minecraft.jar - and allow to crash
2 Scroll up in terminal window and find last ../jre/bin/java command, scroll across and find ‘-cp ’, copy this path list until ‘ net.minecraft.launchwrapper.Launch’
3 Paste this text into the cp= in the run.sh script

Try :

Code: Select all

sudo chmod +x run.sh
All good now. I tried using

Code: Select all

bash ~/Minecraft/run.sh

Which works fine so thank you very much. For future people wanting to do this I recommend bringing down the frame rate to around 30 bc even with a 64 mb micro sd it still freezes and lags if I move to fast. Anyway, thanks rpimike for the great find. C u guys around! :D

Is that one Raspberry Pi being moved between 3 different displays ? If so what screen resolution is each ? Are you using Open GL Full / Fake ?

As specified I have changed the open gl to Full in the raspi-config menu. The 3 displays are all set to auto however, if you need the specifications then I can find them out for you?

Does glxgears run at 60fps on your small desktop ? I suspect OpenGL isn't working properly on your small desktop - maybe screen resolution problem.

Hi Mike, thanks for all your help. All is good so it must’ve been a little glitch in the system. See you around and I hope this is the last post I make in this thread!!!!

I have worked out how to install the OptiFine mod :D
Runs on average at a good 20 frames per second :o

How to install the OptiFine mod for better performance:
Assuming you have completed the tutorial above(and installed Minecraft 1.8.9):

Go to http://optifine.net/downloads
And download “OptiFine 1.8.9 HD U H3”

Go to your downloads

Code: Select all

cd ~/Downloads
And run optifine installer

Code: Select all

java -jar OptiFine_1.8.9_HD_U_H3.jar
Click install.

Now launch Minecraft

Code: Select all

cd ~/Minecraft
java -jar Minecraft.jar
Select the OptiFine profile and click play. The launcher will crash

Install asm:

Code: Select all

cd ~/Minecraft
mkdir Libraries
cd Libraries
Download asm-5.0.4-bin.zip from http://forge.ow2.org/project/showfiles. ... se_id=5660
Move it to the Libraries folder

Code: Select all

cd ~/Minecraft/Libraries
mv ~/Downloads/asm-5.0.4-bin.zip .
Unzip it

Code: Select all

unzip asm-5.0.4-bin.zip

Now download my updated run.sh:

Code: Select all

cd ~/Minecraft
wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/0r5trow18vi5vls/runOptifine.sh?dl=1 -O runOptifine.sh
Fill runOptifine.sh with your Minecraft login details
Edit MINECRAFT_LOGIN, MINECRAFT_USERNAME, MINECRAFT_PASSWORD and MINECRAFT_UUID:

Code: Select all

nano runOptifine.sh
Change permissions of file:

Code: Select all

chmod 700 runOptifine.sh
Now run it:

Code: Select all

./runOptifine.sh
When Minecraft has launched, turn everything down to low in the video settings (and turn on things like fast math)
Close Minecraft(It might crash if you open a world now)
And relaunch it:

Code: Select all

./runOptifine.sh

Thanks for reading!
P.S. rpiMike, you can include this in the original post if you want
But when I type ./runOptifine.sh there is a bash:

bash: ./runOptifine.sh: Keine Berechtigung
(I don't know how to translate this German words, but it means, I'm not allowed to run this)

I copied the matter into a new file called run1.sh but then my terminal showed that:

% Total % Received % Xferd Average Speed Time Time Time Current
Dload Upload Total Spent Left Speed
100 277 100 107 100 170 245 390 --:--:-- --:--:-- --:--:-- 390

Yes, it is possible to connect to Minecraft servers.
No, it isn't. When I try to connect to a server minecraft says: invalid session (try restarting your game)

I'm using LXTerminal, Raspberry Pi3 and the latest raspbian jessie. I've tried to run minecraft directly by entering

cd ~/.minecraft/versions/1.8.9/
java -jar 1.8.9.jar

and then it says

Fehler: Hauptklasse net.minecraft.client.Main konnte nicht gefunden oder geladen werden

I've searched in the internet for the meaning of this sentence but other people only get this:

Fehler: Hauptklasse net.minecraft.client.Main konnte nicht gefunden oder geladen werden Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: Using incremental CMS is deprecated and will likely be removed in a future release

If you get permission denied running a .sh file you probably need 'sudo chmod +x <file>'

I'm assuming you installed Raspbian using Noobs?

Is there a reason you want Minecraft 1.8.9 - the new tutorial for 1.12.1 would be easier : viewtopic.php?f=78&t=186547

And if you've downloaded and started the launcher don't start it with

Code: Select all

cd Minecraft
java -jar Minecraft.jar
That downloads Minecraft.jar and starts the launcher.

This is faster:

Code: Select all

cd .minecraft
java -jar launcher.jar

Hello! I know this is probably an oldder thread, but I was wondering if anyone could send me a run script or anything to allow me to run minecraft on beta 1.1_02. I co-own a server called Nostalgia Project, and I thought it would make things easier to take the little computer around with me to help me get on and do work faster

If you read the last paragraph of the 1.12.1 thread - it tells you how to create the class path for a different version of Minecraft for your own script.

You don't need to locate any libraries - basically run Minecraft.jar - let it fail - and copy the class path.
