Hello,

I have a Raspberry Pi 2 running Raspian Wheezy. I know that this version has a free "Minecraft Pi" version installed on it, but this version is a bit too watered down for me. From what I understand, Minecraft server will run on it as well. I would like to run the full Linux Minecraft version from the https://minecraft.net/download site.

Minecraft for Linux / Other
Download Minecraft.jar (86 KB). The jar is executable and should work as-is, also please use Oracle's JVM.

I have tried the game with the default java, I have tried the game with Oracle's JVM. I can log in with my Minecraft account, and I can update all of the files. But when I click on "PLAY", I get the following error.

game ended with bad state (exit code 1)

I have looked online and I cannot seem to find any information on the Raspberry Pi 2 as it relates to full Linux version of Minecraft. Will this game work on Raspberry Pi 2 running Raspbian Wheezy?

Thanks

Minecraft requires OpenGL which the Pi doesn't support (only OpenGL ES which is different).

Minecraft uses LWJGL, how did you get LWJGL to compile on Pi 2?

Thank you for the replies. That explains it. As far as the compiling question, I didn't compile anything.

Thanks again.

the openpandora uses GLShim to run java minecraft under ARM/opengles. should work on pi too.

I would try some stuff but I don't have access to a tv right now.

Why does the personal edition of minecraft work? It must use a different graphics system.

Just tried full minecraft with the default java on the raspberry pi 2, hotspot java or something. fails with stack dump.

Any updates?

The regular game fails for two reasons.
1. It uses a graphics mode that doesn't run on a RPi
2. It uses JNI (Java native interface) code that is specific to the hardware it runs on.

The full version is able to run on the raspberry pi 2-3, because you can install otional GL drivers.

The instructions work for both the raspberry pi 2 and 3 (I said that already, did'nt I?)
