Looking into getting into Scratch for me and my six year old, can anyone suggest the best place to start?:-)

If you're looking at regular Scratch 2.0 then the best place to start is https://codeclubprojects.org/en-GB/scratch/

If you're more interested on using Scratch on the Pi to control the gpio pins, then https://projects.raspberrypi.org/en/pro ... th-scratch

You don’t need to do anything to get Scratch since it is already installed on your Pi. Both versions in fact - the 1.4 version with the built in gpioserver and the newer but slower version 2 that I personally dislike because of the whole Flash thing.

To learn about using it you can find a boatload of stuff via google but possibly the most immediately useful would be the Magpi guide which you can get by going to the MagPi section of this very site and downloading the pdf version for free.

I think this is what Tim is on about;

I'm in a similar situation to the OP, in that I'm starting to teach my 7-year-old granddaughter Scratch. (They're teaching Scratch in her school, but she was struggling with sprite selection and manipulation - probably because her teacher doesn't have enough time for one-to-help help.)

We've got over that problem, but I'm a bit nervous that soon we'll have to venture into topics like negative numbers and the x-y plane which they haven't taught her yet. Any advice from an educator around here please?

(I'm fully conversant with those topics myself, having spent lots of time playing around with computer graphics!)
