30 months and still cheaper to spend £30.00 on an Android TV Stickmimi123 wrote:I'm the one working on it.DougieLawson wrote:http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 54#p607754mimi123 wrote:KitKat has just memory leak issues before being released.
Basically, it needs gpu_mem=256 to be useable.
So you can play with the launcher and settings, but not much else.
Do u have a working .img, can u send it somehow???mimi123 wrote:I'm the one working on it.DougieLawson wrote:http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 54#p607754mimi123 wrote:KitKat has just memory leak issues before being released.

used GPU accel.mahjongg wrote:he may be able to, but without working hardware (GPU) acceleration, any android version would be unusuably slow, and there is no indication he has it working.

OK. But before releasing, I will optimize memory usage a little.mahjongg wrote:i doubt it very much.... ill see it before i believe it.

I hope so.riklaunim wrote:So now - how can it handle binary code compiled for newer ARM versions with different instruction sets? Can it run chrome, angry birds and any other typical application like that?
There is no hope. It can't - that's the shortest answer.Laurens-wuyts wrote:I hope so.riklaunim wrote:So now - how can it handle binary code compiled for newer ARM versions with different instruction sets? Can it run chrome, angry birds and any other typical application like that?

The GPU memory usage is so high that you can only play with the settings and launcher. Not even web browsing....Laurens-wuyts wrote:I hope so.riklaunim wrote:So now - how can it handle binary code compiled for newer ARM versions with different instruction sets? Can it run chrome, angry birds and any other typical application like that?

I worked on that one....ric96 wrote:The Samsung Galaxy Grand runs vc4jamesh wrote:Odd, shouldn't be using that much. I've definitely seen Android running on a VC4 based system with similar memory IIRC.
That's odd - we don't have that problem on commercial releases.mimi123 wrote:There is a *ton* of memory leaks.jamesh wrote:Odd, shouldn't be using that much. I've definitely seen Android running on a VC4 based system with similar memory IIRC.
( eglImage deallocating is not supported so size of textures grow quickly with time)
I was wondering can we gain something from this devicejamesh wrote:I worked on that one....ric96 wrote:The Samsung Galaxy Grand runs vc4jamesh wrote:Odd, shouldn't be using that much. I've definitely seen Android running on a VC4 based system with similar memory IIRC.
It is hacked from the raspberrypi/userland code,... (with VCSM hacks for gralloc)jamesh wrote:That's odd - we don't have that problem on commercial releases.mimi123 wrote:There is a *ton* of memory leaks.jamesh wrote:Odd, shouldn't be using that much.
