Keep it polite please. The performance is, indeed, terrible without GPU support, as with much of Android without GPU support. Not sure of the schedule for release of the Android drivers, we are still working on them.aaa801 wrote:Right, firstly the guy above me doesn't seem to have a clue about android.
Secondly, flash on the pi is available with android,
Thirdly, The current builds of android have no sound and no acceleration
This is only temporary as we are waiting for broadcom to release the drivers
First off, you can find that apk prety dam easily, and gapps are flashable just like any other app..6677 wrote:Actually adobe pulled flash off of the google play store last week, its no longer available on android. Flash is closed source too so you can't just port it yourself.
Also the current android for pi builds don't have google play in the first place (google play technically isn't free software, the cost for that is part of your phone handset, I doubt broadcom or the foundation have licensed it on the pi so we aren't going to be getting it). So even if flash was available it would be unobtainable (legally, yes it is possible to pirate supposedly free software), theres no android downloads for it on the adobe website.
Note I said legally. Downloading the apk from 3rd parties is outside of the EULA for flash so is not legal and I think discussion of piracy on forums is both bad practice and usually against forum rules.aaa801 wrote:First off, you can find that apk prety dam easily, and gapps are flashable just like any other app..
I can get the "products" but without an IP changing service I can't access a lot of the "services" - "not available in your country"....(Portugal!)6677 wrote:Being in portugal makes no difference. Portugals internet isn't censored yet so you have access to the same stuff we do.
Actually, you can. What we're talking about here is violation of licensing terms and copyrights, both of which can be done to both "free as in beer" and "free as in freedom" software. It is most certainly possible to "pirate" GPLed software, and a significant number of (not only, but largely) Chinese manufacturers releasing Android devices do this on a regular basis.ghans wrote:Perhaps you can pirate gratis software , but you can not pirate free software.
This was my point. Flash may be available freely at the moment but technically getting it from a source other than adobe conflicts with copyright and piracy laws as that is outside of the EULA.tufty wrote:Actually, you can. In fact, about the only thing you can't violate copyrights and licensing terms on is code that has been (either deliberately or not, ask AT&T about that) released into the public domain.

Its also not available legally outside of google play. Google play for legal reasons won't be included on the pi (android may be open source but the store software isn't, your handset manufacturer pays in order to have play on your device). Adobe say they are pulling flash soon aswell (they already did for 1 week but then realised that it broke a few apps, most of which are now moving away from using flash in preparation).kunhadi wrote:Flash works up to Android 4.0.xx
says in the Google Play
FLASH PLAYER WILL NOT BE SUPPORTED ON ANY ANDROID VERSION BEYOND ANDROID 4.0.xx
