rpi to laptop connection

Thu Jan 10, 2013 2:15 pm

Hi,

I am new at bare metal and I'd need some clear, step-by-step instructions for connecting the RPI to my laptop for this kind of programming. I know there are several ways to do it, but I need the simplest one. I believe it's the serial UART USB connection, but I am not sure what I need and what to do for this.

What is your opinion? What works best for you?

Thanks,
Adrian

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. As far as I can see, both your instructions are based on a FTDI breakout board. But is it possible to use instead a USB to TTL 3.3V cable? I have one with the same specs as this one: https://www.modmypi.com/raspberry-pi-ac ... spberry-Pi

@David - After setting the connection and saving the config, what are the following steps needed to run your examples (say, blinker01) with this setup? How does it end up on the SD card and gets to be executed?

Thank you.
Adrian
