Raspberry Pi 3 Kernel Development with Broadcom 2835

Mon Jan 15, 2018 7:32 am

Hi,

I have started my long journey in RISC Os development in Raspberry Pi3 with a ambitious goal to have a decent minimal kernel up and running within 3 months .

As there is insufficient documentation from broad-com i would like to know whether apart from LED pin shift ,Multi Cores, Memory Base Address could i use broad-com 2835 documentation to build a kernel in raspberry pi3 for BCM 2837.

Thanks

The main difference in the CPU's is the ARM cores - which are documented by ARM themselves - the rest of the documentation for the 2835 (The GPU stuff) should be applicable to all models.

Note the sticky topics have lots of good links, somewhere in there you will find a community based errata for the broadcom documentation, bugs in the docs that folks have found and bothered to document. No need to re-hack the same wheel.
