Bare Metal with FreePascal on the Raspberry Pi

Fri Sep 14, 2012 2:59 pm

Following the assembly bare metal tutorial on http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/freshers/raspbe ... orials/os/ i got inspired to go and try bare metal programming on the raspberry pi using the pascal programming language.

First i needed a freepascal crosscompiler to target the raspberry pi.
Instruction are posted here:
http://code.google.com/p/fprpbm/wiki/CrossCompiler

Also a first example of letting a led blink from pascal is in the svn:
http://code.google.com/p/fprpbm/source/browse/

Use the build.sh script to build an kernel that can be executed on the raspberry pi.

More will come in the future.

Does anybody know where I can download a binary for fprpbm or package? I have no internet access except my cell phone and that has a bandwidth cap. So I must be very frugal with anything I download.

I used pascal back in highschool and would like to try my hand at some bare metal.
