Create new desktop

Fri Feb 14, 2014 9:25 pm

Me and a few friends are attempting to create an awesome project with a portable raspberry pi. One of the things we want to do for this project is create a new desktop/home screen for the computer. The one issue is though, we have no idea how to create graphics for this home screen. If any of you can point us to any tutorials that demonstrate this or could tell us in a response, it would be greatly appreciated. :D

There is some information you might find helpful in the section named "Desktop Backgrounds (wallpaper)" in this collection of information about Raspbian

Setting a Desktop Background on the Pi is similar to Setting a Desktop Background on Windows: paint or get the Image you want and click your way through the configuration Screen.

Well,

That reminds me.
I know someone (19) in this household who has not much to do and owes me one or two favors.
He has just graduated from game design school and is waiting until September to go on and study for a multimedia university degree.
I am sure he is glad to help you out. His website is http://swiftfreeze.com and contains his portfolio.
Send him an email if I am right in that you and your friends really want what he does.....

He is a nice guy and I am sure he will help you with design and tooling tips.

Email is on his website. He knows about the Raspberry Pi as well.

Thaddy

p.s. don't tell him I did this ;-)
