How fast does SDL run?

Sun Aug 11, 2013 1:11 am

I have heard lots of people on the forums talk about getting SDL on Raspbian. How fast does it run? I am thinking about what graphics library to use and I do not have a raspberry pi yet.

I think you'll have to describe much more detailed what you are planning to do to get a good answer to your question.

I have created a video and posted it on youtube showing how to download and setup SDL 2.0 for the raspberry pi on youtube and also I show how quick it is but yeah my pi is overclocked to 950mhz.

Here is the link and please subscribe and share!

Sorry about not being clearer. I am planning to be making games with it.

Cool! I'll try your solution when my pi arrives (a few weeks). Just one question.

Does your video show how to install SDL_image, SDL_ttf and SDL_mixer? If not how do I install them?

Thanks!

I attempted to follow the video mentioned above and could not get SDL2 working with Raspbian - the video uses a customized set of files and requires Code:Blocks.

So I created documentation on installing, compiling, and using a standard SDL2 library in the beginners section of this forum. http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 91&t=56756

I probably should have posted it in this graphics section.
