Model loaders for Rasbian and Linux generally

Fri Jul 22, 2016 10:20 pm

Hi
Can anyone recommend a good basic open source model loader which will work for Raspbian. I don't want to limit it solely to OBJ but I do need to keep the footprint to a minimum, but
I've hunted around and most open srouce seem very DirectX or OpenGL based often with Windows in mind and I really needs something that will work on the Raspbian and a few other SBC flavours of Linux.
It also needs to be very easy to use, as this is part of a tutorail for beginners and I need to avoid long detailed explinations of how to use it. So a plug and play lib, or a compile sub project style approach is best.

thanks

Maybe you can try my library: raylib (www.raylib.com)

It supports multiple platforms, minimal dependencies, supports OBJ loading, materials, shaders...

More info on Raspberry Pi usage: https://github.com/raysan5/raylib/wiki/ ... spberry-Pi

Please, let me know if you try it!

thanks but i really just need a model loader, not a full graphics library, this is for teaching beginner level programmers how to code, so an engine sorta defeats that purpose.

If you made your model loaders as a seperate stand along lib i'd be very interested
