Chalk Electronics Multitouch Question

Fri Oct 03, 2014 10:31 pm

Hi all,

I got the 7" capacitive multi-touch screen and hooked it up to a raspberry pi b+ running the latest Raspbian (kernel 3.12). When I boot it up, single touch does work. But it does not register multi-touches (swipes, two finger scroll, etc). I've searched around the net and read just about every post on this forum on multi-touch screens but for the life of me I cannot get it to:

A) Use hid-multitouch as the driver. When put in my edev.conf file as the driver I get 'could not load module' in my xorg.log but when I lsmod hid-multitouch shows up as a loaded module. It won't use it even after doing:
echo 3 0eef 7200 259 > /sys/module/hid_multitouch/drivers/hid\:hid-multitouch/new_id

B) Since the vendor ID is 0eef that refers to egalax, so I tried many variations of getting the egalax driver to work but without success.

When i do input tests it only ever registers button 1 up and down when the screen is touched.

If I set it up to use the multitouch trackpad driver, multitouch works great, except it tracks the mouse like a track pad.

So, I suppose the question is, has anyone gotten true multitouch to function on a chalkboard electronics capacitive multitouch screen, and if so please let me know how!

Our 7" multi-touch LCD uses separate firmware for single-touch and multi-touch operations. You should check this How-to: http://www.chalk-elec.com/?p=1826

Also, check that you have original LCD from us, because we don't use eGalax for our 7" LCD. It should be VID:PID 04D8:F723 for single touch and 04D8:F724 for multi-touch.
