What the hell is mahara and what does it do?

Tue Sep 02, 2014 11:43 pm

Hi group,
I have Raspbian installed on my web sever and noticed the syslog filling up with messages about mahara.

Code: Select all

Sep 2 16:26:01 raspberrypi /USR/SBIN/CRON[19779]: (www-data) CMD ( if [ -r /usr/share/mahara/lib/cron.php ] ; then /usr/bin/php5 /usr/share/mahara/lib/cron.php >>/var/log/mahara/cron.log 2>&1 ; fi)
First of all, what is mahara. Second what does it do?
I have searched Google but can't find a good definition.

Any enlightened people out there that can explain to a simple mind what is going on?

BTW, I removed mahara.

Mahara is a fully featured web application to build your electronic portfolio. You can create journals, upload files, embed social media resources from the web and collaborate with other users in groups. Find out more...

You do remember installing this, I hope?

Maybe it was installed as a dependency for your project?

I don't remember installing it, like you said, maybe it is a dependency?
The bottom line is what is an eProfile used for? Do I need it?

Since Mahara is a complete web app (incl. a forum, test software, CMS, user management...), I don't see it showing up as a dependency.

Unless there's another software on Debian called Mahara...
