libslirp in Raspberry Pi OS

Mon May 17, 2021 7:18 am

Hi,

I am writing an emulator and found this package really useful to emulate the network.

Unfortunately it does not exist on a Pi, but I can see it in Debian

https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=libslirp

The one I would like to query about is for "buster-backports". Can it be made available on Raspberry Pi OS?

Different Operating Systems:

Debian supports ARMv7 & ARMv8 ARMHF..

Raspbian supports ARMv6 & ARMv7 & ARMv8 ARMHF and never officially supported Debian Backports..

Why Backport ? Bullseye is due for release sometime this Summer.

Why not build package from Source ??

The information is out there....you just have to let it in.

My other Linux machines: ChromeBox

Do you mean as in available in Raspberry Pi OS this Summer?
If this is the case, ok I can wait.

Compiling is trivial, but it makes any dependent project harder to compile as the user needs multiple steps.

So far I was lucky that all other required libs are packaged for all distros: Fedora, Ubuntu, Raspi OS

Return to “Raspberry Pi OS”
