Hello everyone:

A somewhat naive question, why is there no Raspberry Pi Imager for Raspberry Pi OS. I don't use Windows either Mac. A Raspberry Pi Imager would be very useful for my Raspberry Pi.

Regards

There is one. You install it using apt, the same way you'd normally install Raspberry Pi OS software.

Code: Select all

sudo apt update
sudo apt install rpi-imager

Thank you very much!
I don't know why it's not mentioned along with the others.

The others are all direct downloads. The Pi OS doesn't need that as it has it in the package manager, which keeps track of everything it installs.

FWIW, screenshots of (the April version, 1.2) RaspberryPi Imager running on a P3A+ can be seen here:

(and I've been using that setup frequently since those pages were created.)

I've updated the docs page here to reflect this.

That's good. Would it also be possible to add something to the 'headline' information at https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/ which might be understood to say that a third-part OS is needed as a platform to be able to install RasPiOS?
