p7zip-rar not available but listed on raspbian.raspberrypi.org?

Wed Mar 18, 2020 11:27 pm

Hello,

I have installed "p7zip-full" and would like to install the "p7zip-rar" package (module) to extract rar-files.

"sudo apt install p7zip-rar" tells me, the package isn't available.
But it's in the raspbian mirror-list: p7zip-rar_16.02-3.debian.tar.xz

Link:

Can you help me, please?

to extract rar file you can use the package unrar-free.

It is easier if you know to search after packages with apt. The website from your link I think is the old raspbian release. I think you has Raspbian Buster now?

you can search after packages with:
apt list "*7zip*"
Then you will get a list with all packages with 7zip in its name.

Thank you for your help and suggestion.
But I tried the *dirty* way...

I checked the dependencies on:
https://packages.debian.org/buster/armhf/p7zip-rar

Downloaded the p7zip-rar_16.02-3_armhf.deb and verified the sha256-checksum.

And installed it with:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install ./p7zip-rar_16.02-3_armhf.deb
It works without problems and RAR5 files can finally be extracted.

Return to “Raspberry Pi OS”
