Keyboard shortcut to force minimize / force maximize the current app?

Mon Feb 10, 2020 10:23 am

Hi,
does someone know a Keyboard shortcut to force minimize / force maximize the current app on Raspbian Stretch?
I have currently an app that is bigger than the screen and covers everything including the panel, so i can't move it, cannot minimize it.
Alternatively a keyboard shortcut to force the panel in the foreground will do as well.
Thank you for your help

In LXDE-pi and some other desktop environments, you can move a window by holding Alt and dragging any part of the window with the left mouse button.

This should allow you to move an oversized window until its resizing handles or minimize/maximize buttons are visible.

In addition to what jojopi said, it sounds like you might be using an old GTK2 application which wasn't designed for smaller screens or may be somewhat broken. I don't believe there is a way to force-maximize a window for an application like that.

You might get better help if you mentioned which application you're describing.

I am using the Arduino IDE in Version 1.8.10.

THANK YOU! That worked well!

To use strictly keyboard commands then:
[Alt] [Space] x to maximize
m to move using arrow keys then [Esc] to cancel moving...
Several other options as shown in the popup list.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated Raspbian Buster w/ Desktop OS.

Return to “Raspbian”
