PI4 wont update

Sat Jan 25, 2020 6:35 pm

Hello,

I also can't open web pages. The error is the standard FF "is havng a problem finding that web site." And says no internet connection. My sources list needs to be reconfigured I think but I don't know the procedure. I'm running Buster10.

And says no internet connection.
Well, there's your problem...
Why do you think you *do* have an internet connection?
Try e.g. 'ping 8.8.8.8' and post the full output here.

The output for ping 8.8.8.8 is

From 192.168.0.1 icmp_seq=1 Destination Net Unreachable(repetitive loop) until I kill it by Ctrl+C.
Followed by --- 8.8.8.8 ping statistics ---
17 packets transmitted, 0 received, +17 errors, 100% packet loss, time 672ms

So you don't have an Internet connection.
Nothing to do with sources.list

How are you connected to the network?

I got a wired connection. It was working fine until a few days ago. My other machine with Linux Mint has no problem with internet connection.

I found sudo apt update -allow-releaseinfo-update. Maybe that will save the day. And maybe clearing FF's cache to load web pages again, since I know the internet is up.

Web pages load again and was able to update. Latest snag is the links on a web page are only active immediately after pressing refresh button. Then they go dead with a few seconds. How to keep links active?

Is your internet working sometimes for your pi, when browsing the web?

Because if it decides to turn of internet after a while, the problem could be the router.

I had the same problem with my router, but it was with wireless connection, so I doubt it could be it.

Maybe, if you have a spare SD Card, flash the image onto it and try and update from that SD Card.

The OS has updated and the internet has returned. Need help with audio. It only comes through hdmi interface but I need audio piped in to the head set. What settings should be changed to accomplish that?

Right click on the speaker icon and select Analog.
Left click for volume control.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated Raspbian Buster w/ Desktop OS.

Return to “Raspbian”
