What part of what you are doing do you need help with ?

Assuming the VT320 is a serially connected CRT terminal, it may be that it requires an RS232C connection. Your FTDI cable may only produce TTL voltages or have the wrong polarity.

If you have a usb-to-serial adapter plugged into your RPi, what configuration do you imagine might be required on the RPi?

From what I can remember you need to run something like this on the Pi -

getty -L 9600 ttyUSB0 vt320

Google might turn up something useful on "getty"

I have it working using this

systemctl start [email protected]

Does anyone know how to get the arrow and function keys to work?

On your VT320 Terminal, what is the output from:

Code: Select all

echo $TERM
The default terminal is the VT100, some VT320 features may not work unless the system knows you are using a VT320.

I have a VT320 terminal which I also connect to my Pi's using a Serial to USB converter. I found it was very usefull to be able to plug into the Pi's USB port and get access to a command line during the early days of Pi WiFi which was not very reliable, my Pi's run headless.

It took a bit of setting up to get it to work, and even more setting up to get the numeric keypad to work in Vim, but that's another story.

Dave.
