wheezy archives needed for pygame and touchscreens

Fri Jul 19, 2019 2:47 pm

Hi,

I just noticed that the wheezy archives have been removed. This breaks pygame for touchscreens, because the version of libsdl1 of Raspbian is broken since Jessie. To make pygame work with tslib you need to downgrade to the wheezy version.

For details on this issue see https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-2-4 ... ygame-tips. Adafruit also supplies a downgrade-script which does not work anymore.

So please, please restore the wheezy archives. Or, if anybody knows an alternative url to http://archive.raspbian.org/raspbian with wheezy packages, please let me know.

Thanks, Bernhard

Wheezy was moved to http://legacy.raspbian.org so change your configuration to point there.

Looks like somebody made a work around
https://github.com/olegv142/pygamets/bl ... /README.md

It might even work with Buster and you get python3.7 thrown in too :-)

I don't have a touch screen to test with though.

Nice library. The workaround is probably not necessary, because tslib has a generic solution for that. The only problem is that I have to figure out how to convince pygame to use the tslib-corrected pointer-device without using tslib directly.

In the meantime I downgraded the critical library and it works again (using Buster and python3.7). So for now I'm happy. And maybe pygame 2 with SDL2 will solve the problem permanently.

Return to “Raspbian”
