You can boot from USB, just not directly.
Use the sd card to transfer the boot to the USB just as previous RPIs did.

work is being done on finishing a more extensive boot mechanism, but fullproof USB booting (finding bootcode on a memory device, even behind a hub, and in the presence of other USB memory devices) does NOT have priority, first NETBOOT will be finished. when fullproof USB booting is ready it will be announced in the blog, you will be informed when its ready!
enough has been said on this subject, to exhaustion, you are all starting to sound like a broken record, so on advice from several reporters asking for this I'm locking this thread!
