Upgraded to stretch - now there is only audio in web video players when using epiphany browser

Mon May 06, 2019 10:29 pm

I've upgraded to stretch. Now video is black, but I get audio. This is on epiphany using sites like Lynda or Youtube.

Any idea on things to try?

Upgrading from Jessie to Stretch is not recommended, also epiphany web browser was replaced by chromium-browser:

adieu

My other Computer is an Asus CS10 ChromeBit running Chrome Operating System.
HP Envy 4500 Wireless Printer supported by HPLIP software in Raspbian Buster.
Raspberry Pi Model 2B v1.1

Epiphany is not HW accelerated any more on Stretch, but it was not "replaced by Chromium". It's simply a different (and more lightweight) browser.

Video should work again, if you install all gstreamer-1.0 plugins.
Minimal Kiosk Browser (kweb)
Slim, fast webkit browser with support for audio+video+playlists+youtube+pdf+download
Optional fullscreen kiosk mode and command interface for embedded applications
Includes omxplayerGUI, an X front end for omxplayer
