chromiium 22 packages available for testing

Thu Nov 15, 2012 12:48 am

I don't have a Pi handy at the moment and I would like to get the chromium 22 packages i've just built tested before putting them into raspbian.

The packages are at http://plugwash.raspbian.org/chromium22/ . Please test them and report back any regressions you've noticed compared to the packages currently in raspbian.

I just downloaded and installed all the non dbg packages, and I get an instant segmentation fault if I try to run chromium-browser.
What can I do to provide more info?

Got it to core dump, and have installed the dbg packages, but gdb seems to sit there forever (well, > 5 mins anyway). Swapped to my 512Mb pi, but same symptoms on both chromium and gdb.

Instant segfault here too on a rev1 pi with a well used raspbian install

I installed Chromium (Version 20.0.1132.57 Debian wheezy/sid (145807)) on Rasberian.

Apart from using more RAM (than Netsurf and Midori) and a tad slower it has been fine. I went back to 64MB for video (from 128MB) and that seems to have sped things up a bit. The only page that has given me issues is Facebook but that happens 3/10 times. I hit wait and it reloads np.

As mentioned it is a slower browser but at least it displays pages properly :)

Although worthwhile information, the OP was talking about v22. Any chance you can try that?

I'll give it a try after work today :) ...my mistake about the version was due to TOD; turkey overdose.

I managed to reproduce the issue and get a backtrace but it wasn't a very helpful backtrace.

(gdb) bt
#0 0x001face0 in ?? ()
#1 0x42d6c06c in __libc_csu_init ()
#2 0x44f047b0 in ?? () from /lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libc.so.6
Cannot access memory at address 0x0
#3 0x44f047b0 in ?? () from /lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/libc.so.6
Cannot access memory at address 0x0
Backtrace stopped: previous frame identical to this frame (corrupt stack?)

On hexxeh's suggestion i've attempted to disable "hardening" We will see how that works out.

Just an observation is not Chromium at version 25 ?

Regards version 22.0.1229.94 Debian 7.0 (161065) it installs OK with no errors and is listed in the Menu and launches OK, but has very high memory usage, and therefore a lot slower than Midori.

I was able to Synch my Google Account with no issues.

I was able to run the Chrome Extensions Jolicloud and Freecell Apps, but GlideOS wanted the 'real' Flash Player' not gnash

So yes apart from the memory issue it appears to be running AOK and a great update!
