Raspbian on 1440p monitor (2560x1440)

Tue Jun 26, 2018 5:29 am

Hi everybody,

I'm aware the Pi 3b+ doesn't output above 1080p.
I don't think I can overclock the gpu to be able to handle 2560x1440, could i?
Otherwise, i'm looking for advice on how to make the screen look less blurry. Is there an option for this kind of thing anywhere?
Everything is a little blurry and i'm trying to find a way to make it a little clearer without doing 1:1 mode and having a black border around the screen.

Thanks in advance :)

Depends on the monitor, 4K is possible but only at 15Hz
Most TV's have minimum of 24Hz

Try it and see,
Put settings in config.txt

Hey thanks! I made minor modifications to the config.txt floating around in that thread, and now have my 3b+ happily running at true 1440p @ 30Hz! Awesome! (24 worked, but was too slow unresponsive for me. 30 is okay)

Hi nes_pi,

I'm relatively new to raspberry pi, so could you share your configuration for 1440p and where to place it.

just cobbling my Raspberry Pi 3B+ together the first time and maybe its a bit mismatched the perhipreals... after buying a new iBook G4 in 2005 that suffered power issues just after the apple care ended and nothing but a Palm Trio for a couple years then a Blackberry Curve and eventually an HP laptop oh I think 2012 or so, that has also suffered power issues and another doorstop in the collection, an iPad Air 5th gen followed by an iPhone 5SE and Im rockin again, well almost you know... so I happened upon an RPi as an added bonus with an Elektor Sub Sale and it sat about a year while I slowly saved for the other stuff, got a really great I think monitor LG 34UM88-P 21:9 3440 x 1440 @ 60hz and an super cool ABKO capacitive touch mechanical keybo, a cheap drive sleave to find my laptop has good parts and all my data so getting better starting to enjoy the tech once again, but the monitor its got the black side bars set at max res in rasbian and looks decent but a waste of display space not fully utilized. I understand the trouble the limited pixel support at higher refresh rates but I was thinking a couple things, one perhaps fill the screen with two RPi or an iPad/iPhone and an RPI as dual screen and the other is LG supports open source and freely offers all the code for their product configuration software on the downloads section but I havent the specific experience just yet and wondering has anyone compiled any LG open source (LM54_55_opensource_v1_1.zip) for Rasbian? or I keep saving and get another computer going foor the wide and downsize the RPi monitor what it can handle? thanks in advance any assistance or thoughts welcome

unfortunately the custom approach is not working for me, more infos https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/issues/1181
I'd really appreciate if someone could share a working config for 1440p dispalys.
Edit: fixed with xrandr (see arch wiki)
