[SOLVED] please add a link to the current raspbian IMG and desktop ISO on the web with static name...

Sat Mar 31, 2018 8:18 pm

i am wondering, why there is no url available on the web, that is having a static name and that is alwasy pointing to the most recent releases of Raspbian, Raspbian Lite and Desktop ISO.
e.g. (at the moment):

Code: Select all

https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/images/current-raspbian-stretch.zip. ->
    https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/images/raspbian-2018-03-14/2018-03-13-raspbian-stretch.zip

https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian_lite/images/current-raspbian-stretch-lite.zip  ->
    https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian_lite/images/raspbian_lite-2018-03-14/2018-03-13-raspbian-stretch-lite.zip

https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/rpd_x86/images/current-rpd-x86-stretch.iso  ->
    https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/rpd_x86/images/rpd_x86-2017-12-01/2017-11-16-rpd-x86-stretch.iso
a url with a static name would make maintaining download scripts way easier. the url is always the same and i only have to compare the timestamp of the file to know, if a new image is available to download (or using wget with timestamping).
at the moment, on my RPi-PXE-Server project, i have to update the url of the moste recent IMG or ISO file by hand, if i found a new release on the web page - and sometimes i missed that moment that there is a new release available.

You mean something like https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian_lite_latest and https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian_latest which my download script uses? I check those, then look at the filename they redirect to and compare that with the images I've already got downloaded.

oops, i blame myself... you are right, those kind of url already exists... :oops:

Code: Select all

https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian_latest
https://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian_lite_latest
but not for Raspberry Pi Desktop. that mechanism should also available for Raspberry Pi Desktopm ISO... or is it?

thank you...
i always was only looking on the directories it self... not the url of download page.

ok... i am kind of bind... or bump... :shock:
