Mon Oct 22, 2012 7:19 pm

HI,

i have old rpi 256M for couple months
apt-get upgrade ; rpi-update
Linux 3.2.27+ #250 PREEMPT Thu Oct 18 19:03:02 BST 2012 armv6l GNU/Linux

new rpi 512M
fresh install raspbian
apt-update ; dist-upgrade
rpi-update none!
Linux 3.2.27+ #160 PREEMPT Mon Sep 17 23:18:42 BST 2012 armv6l GNU/Linux

How to get same kernel and firmware for both?

See https://github.com/Hexxeh/rpi-update for the instructions to download rpi-update for the first time and run it.
At the moment, you probably have to then do this:

Code: Select all

sudo sh -c 'cp /root/.rpi-firmware/* /boot'
And finally, add

Code: Select all

gpu_mem_512=128

to your config.txt

Just rpi-update is now sufficient. Hexxeh has updated it to copy the new files.

rpi-update only is ok

Return to “Raspbian”
