With the desire for a GUI package manager I decided to install synaptic to my Raspberry Pi. I'm pretty sure that this was a mistake, as since the install my network hasn't been working and I've been getting a "network unreachable" error every time I try and ping 18.104.22.168
Unless I download something with Synaptic, and then my network will work again (oops, briefly, it just cut out half way through downloading some stuff).
I'm a bit of a noob, so please, should I uninstall synaptic. Will it solve my problem?
PS - also just installed pidgin, but I'm pretty sure it is the synaptic install that broke things.
PPS I am connecting using tethering on my mobile phone (it's the only internet I have at home). Wicd still tells me that I'm still connected - I just can't do anything that involves accessing the web if that makes sense.
pps - is there a gui for aptitude?
