The release date of Debian 9 "Stretch" has been announced for June 17, and Release Candidate 4 is available for testing.
Debian 9 comes with kernel 4.9, which means we will get some exciting new stuff by default:
- a fully open Raspberry Pi 3D driver stack
- better HDMI hotplug detection for Pi2/3
- DPI panel support
- Raspberry Pi Zero support
It's just a short list with the things I noticed in the feature announcement on phoronix, so feel free to correct/update this list if you know more.
The purpose of this thread is to talk about the next iteration of Raspbian. I'd like to know what is likely to be expected in Raspbian when the new version (based on Debian 9 Stretch) will be ready, and how else can we help apart from the kernel testing.
Cheers!
