Raspberry Pi A+ with ELPIDA chip

Mon Apr 03, 2017 6:53 pm

Hi everyone,

We have bought a batch of Raspberry Pi A+ boards, they all come with the 'new' ELPIDA chip by the looks of it.

We have a custom OS which was optimised back in early 2015, this has been working for on non-ELPIDA chip RPi boards, but it doesn't work on the new boards with ELPIDA chips. Is there anything we can replace on any of the partitions to make our custom OS work on the newer boards? Change any of the files on the "boot" partition with one of the latest ones maybe?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you.

What happens if you take an SDCard built for the old hardware and run sudo rpi-update on it? That will get you a 4.9.19 kernel and the latest bootcode that works with ALL current Raspberries.

sudo rpi-update updates /boot and /lib/modules/4.9.19+, everything else for the OS remains the same.
