NOOBS is oferring only Raspian, not all OS

Mon Mar 20, 2017 10:16 am

We downloaded NOOBS and loaded it on the sd card (formatted using SD formatter as suggested). But when we insert the card in Raspberry Pi and power it on, then during the boot it gives us only on OS installing option i.e. Raspian. Other OS are not available for install.
Please note:-
1. We downloaded NOOBS (not NOOBS lite).
2. When we unzipped the downloaded NOOBS file, it is only 1.9GB as against 4GB written on the website. We used 7zip tool for unzip as listed on the web.(Raspberry.org).
3. MOST IMPORTANT - We are interested in raspian only and we plan to do image processing using Open CV on Python but our Open CV library is not getting installed we are following instructions from - http://www.pyimagesearch.com/2015/02/23 ... i-2-and-b/

We are wondering it is due to the fact that our NOOBS either is not properly downloaded or unzipped or installed.

Please address our query about the NOOBS.

Welcome, that is perfectly normal and has been that way for a couple of years.

You need an active internet connection to be offered additional Operating Systems.

Wonders will happen when you connect to the internet, then the other OS can be downloaded.

"The Raspbian with PIXEL image contained in the ZIP archive is over 4GB in size, which means that these archives use features which are not supported by older unzip tools on some platforms."

Code: Select all

Directory of N:\Images\Raspbian

If you are only interested in running Raspbian, then don't bother with NOOBS. Just use the Raspbian images. NOOBS is an unnecessary middle-man installer that adds additional time and complexity to installing Raspbian.
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups...and where is that annoying music coming from?
