Latest Update Pi B+ nolonger can access GPIO

Thu Mar 09, 2017 2:52 pm

Hi All

I have recently update the OS and firmware on our beloved Pi B+

We did the following

sudo apt-get update All was ok

sudo apt-get upgrade did reboot and all was ok

sudo rpi-update did reboot now only 3v power gpio pins is working!!!

We use the B+ as a weather monitor and clock so have several sensors and led screens attached all was working before rpi-update but now none work other than one 3v power gpio pin... I STRESS THEY HAVE ALL BEEN WORKING FINE and have been for over a month in the last hardware configuration..

does anyone have any ideas what's happened? why? and how to fix it???

thank you

Please do not use rpi-update in Raspbian Jessie, it install a Testing Kernel which can and does break things.

Raspbian Jessie Kernel / Firmware is now via update / dist-upgrade....

This advice from DL shows how to unpick using rpi-update:

viewtopic.php?f=91&t=176752&p=1127327#p1127327

Updating Raspbian Jessie

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Retired disgracefully.....
