There was an issue with the ACT light on the Zero0 that needed sorting, plus a few other bits and pieces.

The ACT LED does now light after booting a Zero W but the 10 flashes to confirm that power down is complete still doesn't work.

Hi,

I have download the new Image and now I'm missing the .config directory in the home/pi/ directory.

I have checked the sha1sum of the download.
In the change log I can't find something

What's wrong?

Could you provide a bit more information? Are you talking about the lite or full image? Does the lack of a .config lead to a problem of some kind for you? Is this after having booted into PIXEL?

I installed a fresh version of Raspbian on a RPi2 (early version) a couple of weeks ago. Just after the installation It suffered a gravity incident ( between the dining room table and the floor). The ACT led is no longer working but I can't recall if this was a result of the install or the fall. If the Raspbian problem is only on the Zero W I assume something must be broken. I might try an old SD card with a previous version of Raspbian just to make sure.

Odd, it's 4.4.50+ #970 and 4.4.50-v7+ #970 when installed with apt-get update && apt-get -y dist-upgrade and I don't think the foundation folks have build any 4.4.? kernel that's later than that.

Sorry for bad Informations.

I mout the Full-Image for customizing first and I don't run it on the Pi.

At the Image 2017-01-11-raspbian-jessie I can do that. For example i change the Theme in lxde-pi-rc.xml and add lines to the autostart of the lxsession

No worries, I understand that it's sometimes hard to know which information is relevant and which isn't.

We used to copy the config files in because I thought that it would speed things up on first boot. After realising that first boot takes so much longer is the creation of the swap file and config files don't make a difference, I've removed that tweak.

When customizing your image, you can copy the files in first. For example, lxde-pi-rc.xml can be found in /etc/xdg/openbox/lxde-pi-rc.xml.

I must have missed some release notes...Where can I find a listing of the differences between this and the November release?

Release notes:
http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbi ... _notes.txt

I've installed this via the image on one pi, and used apt get dist-upgrade on another (from Nov image)

A minor thing missing from the dist-upgrade version is the WiFi connected icon - it's up/down arrows on image, but still wifi icon on dist-upgrade ?

Great to have SSH (optionally) back in the default NOOBS for a headless install:

- copied NOOBS files over to a fresh SD, created ssh.txt file
- edited recovery.cmdline to add silentinstall at end (*)

Pi plugged in, headlessly installed and can SSH in 15 mins later :)

(*) slight roadhump - recovery.cmdline has a blank line at end, and silentinstall didn't work until I removed it

Now if wpa_supplicant.conf was copied over too (as in full raspbian), that'd be great !
-it has been supposed to work in NOOBS for at least a year - see documentation

That wpa_supplicant.conf is only meant to apply to NOOBS. It would be up to the individual distros whether to use it. I've just pushed a change to Raspbian which should make it work with the next release.

He means NOOBS will currently only use wifi details from wpa_supplicant.conf on the root of the SD card for the NOOBS menu
i.e. getting a list of OSes to download and install via NOOBS, or for NOOBS Lite

The final NOOBS installed raspbian doesn't use this info (yet) - but ShiftPlusOne has pushed a change so it will on next release (THANKS !)

Still no (miniscule) alsaplayer on board standard. Omxplayer still not suggested when trying to play a simple video file (mp4) (with play in terminal option ticked to enable keys!!). Only for the few in the know.

Are video and music not important in Pi school education land?

My RPi 2B failed to boot after this update; I had the same problem with the December update:
viewtopic.php?f=66&t=169293&p=1087397#p1087397

Any ideas what was changed between the November and December updates that might cause boot failures?

As I believe I have stated before, to you, a small GUI Alsa player is planned. However, these things take time and money. You can be as snarky as you like, but it make no difference whatsoever to the schedule the RPF has in place. TBH, it probably make things less likely, because who likes snarky?

Of course, you are more than welcome to do the work required, and submit the code for inclusion in our distro, or do you prefer just to complain?

https://packages.debian.org/search?keyw ... ection=all

Only packages alsaplayer-alsa & alsaplayer-common are needed.

Return to “Raspbian”
