ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

Mon Feb 20, 2017 9:08 pm

I just set-up my Raspberry Pi 3b using the PIXEL image from the website. I did only a couple of things, like configure my timezone and locale and keyboard. Now I get this response when I use chromium to access www.google.com or youtube.com - but not other https web sites!

www.google.com sent an invalid response.
ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

Does anyone know what is going on here, or how to trouble-shoot this? I'm going to apt-get firefox and see if I have the same concern...

Hi.

one of the things that can cause this is an incorrect system time.
Is your time zone set correctly and is your desktop showing the correct time.

Yes, the timezone and time are correct. This happens after I do apt-get upgrade. When I reinstall the entire raspian OS from the provided image I do not have this problem - until I upgrade.

I checked the certificate servers listed by the chromium-browser under advanced settings where it says: "
You have certificates on file that identify these servers", and each of those sites listed there is prefixed "Untrusted".

Very strange. How might I fix this? What is Google doing here?

Many ppl are facing this same nightmare :(

Until a more formal fix arrives, a workaround is posted here!
