Windows 10 not showing Pi with WiFi connection

Mon Sep 19, 2016 7:44 pm

When I have my Pi3 connected by wire, I can connect via network from my windows 10 to the pi.
When I disconnect the network cable and try to use the WiFi connect, windows 10 will not connect.
Remote desktop to the wireless IP does connect.
Ping to the pi works and ping from pi to windows works.
I also have samba installed.

Am I missing a step?

when you switch from wired to wifi you will get a different ip address cause the ip address are assigned by mac address and the eth0 and wlan0 each have their own mac address. Try and use the host name and not the ip address

Yes, I know that it is a separate ip for wifi. When I connect with remote desktop, Both methods work when I use one of the (2) ip's.
That is NOT my problem.

If only wifi is active on the Pi, how do I get windows 10 file explorer / network to "see" the Pi?

OOPS: found the problem
Forgot to add the ip in the host file.
