Code: Select all

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable

I have done the first two steps before,

What does "sudo apt-get install -f" mean?

-f probably means "forced" even if there are errors regarding the request.

Just to make sure, you are using Raspbian correct? And the latest image that is obtainable off the downloads page? And you have the latest firmware (well apt-get update && upgrade should get you that, but I like using hexxeh's rpi-update tool just to be safe)

The debian XBMC packages are not built in raspbian and even if they were they would not be much use.

Various people have prepared Pi specific XBMC packages but they are not currently included in raspbian itself (they may be in future but there are other issues that need to be dealt with first).

Why wouldn't the packages be of much use?
I used synaptic to find the packages, they are there but I always get an error when I try to install them; something to do with broken packages.
Could you link us to a discussion which explains the issues which you speak of?

I installed XBMC using this link
http://www.raspbian.org/RaspbianXBMC
It took few hours (because it downloads the XBMC source code and then compiles it) but it worked.

Has anybody else had success with this method?
