Wifi problem (TP Link) on official Raspbian

Wed Aug 29, 2012 2:42 pm

Hey,

I'm using a TP Link WN 821v3 Wifi stick with my raspberry Pi.
A 1A powered USB Hub is connected to the bottom USB port providing enough power for the Stick. To the top port there is a Logitech wireless adapter connected.
With OpenElec, Xbian and this Raspbian Release I don't have any problems and the Stick works really good.
But with any official (17-05 and 18-06) it doesn't work and I keep getting these errors. Because it works with the other Distributions I'm a bit confused and I'm asking for help ...

Having it connected from the beginning makes it hang on boot because of the auto network settings and gives that smsc95xx error. When i disconnect the stick it continues booting but when connecting again there is that 'failed to initialize device' error. The correct firmware is already provided with the official raspbian image.

Solved by installing the 'untested' firmware:
https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/60

Code: Select all

deb http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian/ wheezy main untested

Is that untested firmware now in stable?

I am asking because I also have a Sitecom 8-ports hub and experiencing the random ethernet dead issue, and also never been able to connect my RTL8191S wifi dongle until recent firmware/kernel upgrades..
