Please update the version of ferm in the repository.

Wed Jul 06, 2016 2:32 am

Hi,
Could you please update the version of ferm in the repository?
Ferm version 2.2-3 is not working with Jessie 4.4.13-v7+ #894 however ferm version 2.3-2 does work.
My thread viewtopic.php?f=28&t=152856 explains the problem and solution.

Thank you.

Rsspbian follows Debian, it is very unlikely that the RPF would implement changes, they do not have the time and resources to do so...

You would be better of contacting the Debian Package Maintainers and asking why a newer version is not in the repositories.
Rather than negativity think outside the box !
RPi 4B 4GB (SSD Boot)..
Asus ChromeBox 3 Celeron is my other computer...

You'll probably get a reply on the lines of "Read the FAQ". That explains why Debian "Jessie" is called the "stable" branch.

It means that no new versions will be available in it ever. Existing versions of software will have security patches added and that is all.

If you want newer versions you need to look to the "Testing" branch of Debian/Raspbian (currently called "stretch"). This will have frequent updates and new versions (and new bugs) until it is time for that to be released as the new "Stable" branch.

ferm 2.2-3 is working correctly in Debian Jessie, it is not working correctly in Raspbian Jessie.
I'm not sure why the maintainers of Debian would care about that but I thought the maintainer(s) of Raspbian might.... hence my post.

Anyway even if nothing is done, the solution I found is now provided in the forum.

Return to “Raspberry Pi OS”
