Minibian vs Jessie Lite

Thu Jun 23, 2016 8:06 pm

I wanted to use Raspbian without the educational software and was considering one of these 2 versions. I used
dpkg-query -l
to create a list of installed packages of each and did a comparison. I found one package which was not in minibian which solved a problem for me - this will be the subject of another post.
For the benefit of others considering the same issue here are the results, I hope it helps someone else.

Packages in both:

Re: Minibian vs Jessie Lite

Hello,

I will be using a pi top soon and I'm interested in installing Raspbian Jessie on it. I'm sort of a newbie when it comes to this type of stuff. As far as I can tell, I need to install Raspbian Jessie somehow and then use rricharz's tools. How can I actually install the Raspbian Jessie?

Please tell me if I'm wrong on something.

Thanks!

Ok, thanks! But would you have any idea how to install this on a pi top already running pi top OS?

You replace the pitopos with a compatible operating system.

Though you will need to find the drivers for their specific hardware.

Thanks for this excellent post. I was wandering whether to switch from minibian to Jessie (now stretch) Lite, and basically, I won't, because minibian is still smaller, because Lite contains a large bunch of stuff that either I won't use, or can download if I really need.
