How can i setup my card in that way to receive internet? I want then to use this internet connection and share it through the ethernet port, like the internet connection sharing of windows.

A picture does not help, however running

Code: Select all

lsusb
while the card is plugged in will help us determine which chipset is in your card, and then from the chipset, which instructions for you to follow.

I have not used one of those before so I can only give some general information.
You will need to use the carl9170 drivers for that device.
If you do an lsmod does it show up anything relating to carl9170 ?

If it does, then do an ifconfig -a and you should see an ath0 or something similar to that.
If you see that, then the wireless should be ready to use.
Use WICD or something similar for a graphic interface to setup your WiFi Card.

Otherwise you may need to get the firmware for the device.
Check apt-get to see if theres a firmware-atheros package. The name could be different as I can't check at the moment.
Otherwise, you can get the firmware from here
After the firmware is installed, try the lsmod again and see how you go.

Hi,

I am also trying to setup one of these cards on a Raspberry Pi. My card is packaged as a TL-WN822N Ver 2.0 card but Raspbian reports the card (under lsusb) as:

0cf3:7015 Atheros Communications, Inc. TP-Link TL-WN821N v3 802.11n [Atheros AS7010-AR9287]

lsmod tells me that the driver and firmware for ath9k_htc has been loaded.

Checking other places on the internet seems to indicate that indicates that this is the correct driver and that support is included in the kernel.

The device is not started during boot and attempts to get an IP address via DHCP fail then wicd says that there are no wireless networks detected.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

FYI - Trying to get a TP-WN821N wireless adaptor working under raspbian - no luck (adaptor blank issue), gave up.
Works automatically under raspbmc!
