Hi !
About HDMI-CEC : I've got a Samsung TV with anynet+

-when i use Raspbian + tomaz's xbmc .deb, i have no control with remote
-when i use RaspBMC, remote control is ok.

-> I think it come from libcec (or not ?) so i try to compile it from git (https://github.com/Pulse-Eight/libcec) but then I obtain this :
libCEC version 2:0:0 configured

Compilation flags:
CXXFLAGS : -g -O2 -fPIC -Wall -Wextra -Wno-missing-field-initializers
libCEC LDFLAGS : -llockdev -lrt -ldl -lpthread
client LDFLAGS : -lrt -ldl -lpthread

Configured features:
Pulse-Eight CEC Adapter : yes
Pulse-Eight CEC Adapter detection : no
Raspberry Pi support : no
TDA995x support : no

You can now build libCEC by running:
make
So, here are my questions :
1- what's wrong with the build ?
2- will it make my CEC work ?

Configured features:
[...]
Raspberry Pi support : no
./configure does not look in the right places by itself. Run it like:

./configure --with-rpi-lib-path="/opt/vc/lib/" --with-rpi-include-path="/opt/vc/include"

the raspbian system is then detected.

Hi,

Today i upgrade my RasPi and libcec on xbmc doesn't work. I try to install libcec manually and the result are:

Code: Select all

[email protected] /media/4495-7762 $ sudo dpkg -i libcec_2.0.5-1_armhf.deb
(Reading database ... 53918 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking libcec (from libcec_2.0.5-1_armhf.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing libcec_2.0.5-1_armhf.deb (--install):
trying to overwrite '/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig/libcec.pc', which is also in package xbmc-tomaz 12.0rc1
dpkg-deb: error: subprocess paste was killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 libcec_2.0.5-1_armhf.deb
What are the problem ? I try to reverse updates.

Great job Tomaz, thanks for this .deb.
To me, raspbian + your .deb is the best XBMC solution for RPI

I'm having some issues since the last update I've performed to my system last night, first it was related to libGL.so not being found so I tried to uninstall/reinstall xbmc and now this error:

thank you tomaz for your good work.
Your builds work exellent and your instructions for installing them are working 100%.

I did install your xbmc version first time on the july 2012 wheezy build. But some of the later wheezy builds did not work well with any xbmc releases I tried. So I choose not to upgrade my Pi since august because of this.
Now, with your updated builds it works again with recent firmware.
I like the way you have solved the startup, by allowing the user to interupt xbmc if he wants to go to the desktop instead.

btw, where is that startup script located on the pi, in case I want to modify to my personal choice?

Also I must say that the new firmware memory managment options have made a xbmc/desktop-combo more useful now. Specially on the 256MB Pi versions where 128MB memory dedicated to the GPU will leave the desktop session suffer. Now with the dynamic memory split setup xbmc will use what it needs, and if I launch the desktop instead I will have more memory available for applications.

HDMI sound not working

I did update my raspian/xbmc a couple of days ago, and now if I boot into XBMC I cant get HDMI sound.

However, if I go to the LXDE desktop first and start omxplayer to watch a movie I do get HDMI sound.
Then, if I logout of LDXE and start XBMC again, HDMI sound is working.

I did not pay so much attention when I performed the update, so I cant tell which modules that was updated.

What could be the cause of this, and have anyone experienced the same problem?

Just to confirm this, I did a fresh install of the 2013-02-09-wheezy-raspbian and did the usual apt-get update / upgrade before installing xbmc according to tomaz latest instructions.
Result: The problem with no hdmi sound output is still valid on a fresh install.

Hello

I have the latest and clean Raspbian version.
Does xbmc-rdp.armhf.deb works fine with it?
Does xbmc-rdp.armhf.deb works better than the xbmc package of Raspbian?
Is jul-24-2012 the date of xbmc-rdp.armhf.deb? or is there a newer version?

Thanks

I have install xbmc-tomaz.armhf.deb (42.3 MB) on latest Raspbian (2013-02-09-wheezy-raspbian.img) and found its working. But in XBMC menu CPU usage is showing 96-98% always, even when no media file is played.

In case of RaspBMC I get 20-25% CPU usage only.

Can anybody help me how to improve CPU usage on xbmc-tomaz.armhf.deb on latest Raspbian build.

Thanks & regards
jags

In my Ubuntu-Xbmc box (XBMC 11.0 complied march 24 2012), I can amplify audio volume beyond 100% using volume amplification control. This feature is very useful specially for media files have low gain audio.

I need same feature in my Rasberry-Xbmc box. But unfortunately this control is missing in this latest .deb file (42MB)

Can anybody help me to get this feature to make amplify audio volume beyond 100%.

thanks
jags

Hi I'm finding nearly 90% CPU usage from xbmc, doing nothing, just leaving it idle in the home screen. Does this happens to others? any ideas what's going on? TIA

@tomaz

I installed your packed months ago and i works very fine. But now I tried to update my raspbian with

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update && upgrade.

Code: Select all

After this I get this error while starting xbmc:tvservice-client: No supported modes returned for group CEA in [vc_tv_hdmi_get_supported_modes_new] tvservice-client: No supported modes returned for group DMT in [vc_tv_hdmi_get_supported_modes_new
]

So I flashed my backup on the SD-Card and only maked a update of the firmware wit the Hexxh-script.
But I get the same error.

I can see the userinterface of XBMC but I am not able to play any movies.

It seems to be a problem with the newer firmware. Does anyone have an idea how to fix it

So I get it working :)

I was thinking of using it while usind lirc uir and an old creative CD remote. I've installed lirc but I really don't know how to set it up for working with xbmc.

Any ideas ?

Best regards and keep the amazing work.

Edit:

irw is receiving the correct commands and Lircmap.xml was set up, but xbmc doesn't get any commands... missing a lirc addon or anything else ?

Hi, I want to clean my rasp so I flashed the last Raspbian img.
Now I want to install xbmc.
There are newer precompiled files or the guide at this link is still valid to compile xbmc ?

Hi, I just compiled XBMC 13 Alpha 9, latest Gotham build. Tested on Raspbian Jessie.

First add this repo:

Code: Select all

sudo echo "deb http://archive.mene.za.net/raspbian wheezy contrib" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mene.list
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-key 5243CDED
sudo apt-get update
then download and install these two debs (eventually sudo apt-get install -f)
http://www.2shared.com/file/DJio6fWD/xb ... lldeb.html
http://www.2shared.com/file/sqw9v5Ru/xb ... armhf.html
Enjoy :D
Let me know if you got any trouble.

EDIT: Unfortunately, this works only on Raspbian Jessie version :(

great! I'll try soon.
Some months ago I installed xbmc from this topic and CEC was working fine.
I had to restore the sd many tine starting from scratch, now Peripherals menu is greyed and I cannot use my TV remote to handle xmbc.

With your files it will work?
How can I install yours files and keep my settings?

Yeah, sure, it works. You just have to install libcec

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install libcec2
You should be able to keep your settings without any trouble. If you are scared, just backup your XBMC directory (should be .xbmc in your home).

Read my last post for your settings.
About my files, if you mean how install them, just go in folder where you downloaded them and do:

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -i xbmc*
Then, you probably have to do:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install -f

I run
sudo apt-get install -f
but when I type "xbmc" this error is returned:
