I install the libraries as well

sudo apt-get install libplist1 libmicrohttpd10 libtinyxml2.6.2 libyajl2 libssh-4 libmysqlclient18 liblzo2-2 libfribidi0
When i launch it from the command line, without starting x, i see the logo, and the wallpaper for a second, then shuts the pi off.
Some libraries are missing. Try this:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install libplist1 libmicrohttpd10 libtinyxml2.6.2 libyajl2 libssh-4
libmysqlclient18 liblzo2-2 libfribidi0 libcurl3-gnutls liblockdev1
and then start with

Code: Select all

sudo /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc.bin
If it fails again, pls post your xbmc.log located under /root/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log

You can also try the image i have uploaded... see this link for more details http://blog-selfprogramming.dyndns.org/ ... /comments/

It seems that have installed my version before. You have to uninstall the previous xbmc installation before you can install a new one. Try this:

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -r xbmc-20120905
and then

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -i xbmc-rdp-tomaz.armhf.deb
to install the version from tomaz again...

Does anyone know how I could add USB IR receiver support to this? Standalone XBMC distros support it, but it seems like Raspbian + XBMC doesn't.
{sig} Setup: Original version Raspberry Pi (B, rev1, 256MB), Dell 2001FP monitor (1600x1200), 8GB Class 4 SD Card with Raspbian and XBMC, DD-WRT wireless bridge

To make cec support working, you will need a xbmc version with libcec compiled.
My version http://blog-selfprogramming.dyndns.org/ ... /comments/ supports cec.
You have to install libcec.deb from my site
http://blog-selfprogramming.dyndns.org/ ... /comments/ and the required libraries.
http://blog-selfprogramming.dyndns.org/ ... /comments/ After starting xbmc you can controle xbmc with your remote controle, in case your tv supports cec. Otherwise you will need an adapter.

is anyone else having issues with .mkv files?

i am trying to open a .mkv file i made with makemkv from a movie dvd. vlc says its an mpeg 1/2 stream.
the movie starts, and i hear the sound. but the screen goes black.

also when using the particular video addon "fernsehkritik.tv" i get the same issue.

using a fresh install of xbmc eden on my eee-top plays the movies and the addon like a charm.

Had no issues with .mkv playback using this file: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/530..._1080p.mkv

To keep you guys informed, i made a new post on my blog: http://blog-selfprogramming.dyndns.org/ ... /comments/.

Basically i will compile a new xbmc version on the weekend. I will try to compile it from the mainline tree:
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc.

If it works out, i will also put the .deb file in a raspbian wheezy image for downloading...

Hi,

it seems that you haven´t installed libcec correctly.
make sure that you installed my libcec package from here:http://blog-selfprogramming.dyndns.org/ ... /comments/

and installed all the libraries mentioned here:http://blog-selfprogramming.dyndns.org/ ... /comments/

It also seems that your xbmc tries to connect to the xbmc addon repository, which failes. Please make sure that you have internet connectivity when you start your xbmc.
It is just a first analysis of your log. but it may fix your problem :?:

Re: Two XBMC (.deb) compiled/prepared for users + instructio

Wed Sep 19, 2012 10:19 am

Im starting over with a fresh install of raspbian, going to make sure to expand the sd card first. It actually started working after i did that, but would freeze shortly after trying to use it.

So i need a special libcec off your blog for that to work?

Quite honestly, i think you need to start another thread, and keep the first post updated and have a list of instructions. 8 pages of thread is hard to follow...

Unfortunately the forum is setup to not allow updating after posting. You get the Edit button for a short while, but then it disappears. Makes it hard for the forum to be used to provide up to date status on a project.

Could be put into the Wiki, or the OP's could have details on their web/wiki/blog pages like I do (see sig).

nIerSify wrote:I was facing the same problem. One thing i have tried is to start xbmc automatically on boot, which worked quite well.
To autostart xbmc on boot:
- sudo nano /etc/init.d/xbmc
- copy the script on my blog in this file
- save it, then: chmod +x xbmc
- sudo update-rc.d xbmc defaults

The last command will create symbolic links in all run levels to this script.
If you boot your raspberry pi, xbmc will start automatically.
Thanks for your answer! I had no time lately to test this solution, but given the nice updates to Raspberry Pi firmware / Raspbian mentioned in the homepage I think that I will update to your Raspbian image with XBMC preinstalled when/if you switch to the new Raspbian version. I will be checking your blog to keep myself informed about your progress :)

I´ve a faq site.....i have to put some more content on this site but maybe this will be enough for user information because i don´t want to setup a wiki on my raspberry pi :D It will slow down the whole system because of the database ;)

After having some trouble with my file hoster (uploaded, dropbox), i found a new one that fits best for our needs :) . He provides free downloads, no email or captchas needed.

In order to keep the links alive feel free to take a look at http://blog-selfprogramming.dyndns.org/ ... /comments/

I installed the new raspbian, expanded SD card, update/upgraded, installed the libraries, then the 9/17 xbmc, and i get a shared library error upon trying to launch it. My log is empty, so it doesnt even try to run. This is from the command line before x is started.

Code: Select all

[email protected] ~ $ sudo /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc.bin
/usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libpcrecpp.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Thanx, that fixed it for me

I finally got it up and running, and works with my windows share and the android app. I was able to pull up a youtube by browsing it on my phone, its pretty neat.

It seems to be a little flaky with my windows share, it sometimes connects, othertimes not so much. I need to test it more

Thanks for this package.

I installed it , works pretty well.

but there is a problem: the picture viewer seems to stall randomly: sometimes I load a picture, the screen just goes into black, and never comes back. the machine is still responsive, and cpu is low. in fact "ps " shows that xbmc is in "Sl" state. strace -p shows that it's simply doing "nanosleep" all the time.

I suspect that there is a bug causing it to go into endless sleep

Hi,

pictures works fine for me....but i didn´t test it extensive. I just had problems when browsing images in the folder. There was a problem with creating thumbnails. So i had to disable it...

wget https://github.com/downloads/RB-tomaz/x ... .armhf.deb

is that what you installed?

video playing seems fine though
