Jessie : Removing Java [SOLVED]

Fri Oct 09, 2015 5:37 pm

For Wheezy my notes say that to get rid of Java; "sudo apt-get remove --purge oracle-java7-jdk".

I am guessing with Jessie it's now "sudo apt-get remove --purge oracle-java8-jdk", but that seems to want to bring in a whole load of other stuff ...

Code: Select all

The following extra packages will be installed:
  ca-certificates-java gnome-mime-data icedtea-7-jre-jamvm java-common

Need to get 62.5 MB of archives.
After this operation, 77.5 MB disk space will be freed.
So what's the best way to get rid of as much Java related stuff as I can as I have no current interest in using Java and want to maximise SD card space for what I do have interest in ?
