Legacy (Menu system)

It would seem that Pi 2 is commandeering all effort in development (and other OS's) at the expense of older systems.
I have a B (512), and I'm a Radio Amateur (yes, one of those oddballs :) ). As such, I would like to group the Ham Radio apps in the Menu system - stuff like gpredict (for Satellites), Xastir ( APRS activity mapping) etc... The menu system in raspbian does not admit of comprehension let alone modification, and quite some time ago I advised of this lack. There has been no progress towards a Menu Editor. Can we PLEEEZ see some progress here?

Hopefully...
