Jessie and 5GHz wifi

Wed Aug 19, 2015 11:40 am

Yesterday I got a RPi 2 which is running a from my RPi B cloned Raspbian Wheezy install. After the cloning I read that it is already possible to upgrade Raspbian Wheezy to Jessie, which I am planning on doing, but I do have one question first.

Over the years lot's of people have asked if there are any 5GHz capable USB wifi adapters that work with Raspbian, but nothing seems to work out of the box.

It's been a while since I looked into this and now that Jessie is available, I'm curious: Does Jessie offer support for 5GHz capable wifi adapters? And to make things a little complicated: The wifi adapter has to be able to connect to channels that involve DFS.
