RPI-Update

Heyho,

could it be that it isn't a quite good idea to use hexxeh's rpi-update for raspbian?
I tried it two times and both times my pi doesn't boot after a update with it.

You really don't need it anymore as the files are now distributed from apt repository.

...but I believe the firmware updates installed via apt-get are released at a much slower rate than via rpi-update. I think in effect rpi-update is the bleeding edge, and apt-get will be the tested, stable versions

for the uninformed among us, how does the update work?
sudo apt-get install firmware (?)

I think that firmware is already installed on the images provided by the foundation. apt-get update and apt-get upgrade would be enough
