Start menu fails to initialise using vncserver with Raspbian

Mon May 18, 2015 8:12 pm

Hi,

I've tried to download the latest Raspbian with release date 2015-05-05.

This is a headless installation and when I log into the console and use start then a desktop environment appears as expected.

But if I try to use ssh and vncserver :1 then the "start menu" fail to initialize in the desktop.
What happens is that the a white rectangle shortly appears at the top (where you would expect the menu to appear) and then next it disappears. This happens repeatedly and the Wastebasket on the desktop moves up and down, as the desktop adjust for space for the start menu.

The vncserver was just installed by using "sudo apt-get install tightvncserver".

Has anyone else encountered a similar problem - and found a solution to it?

Best regards
Thomas
