Can't install Chromium on Raspbian

I'm running Raspbian Jessie now that it has gone stable, and I'm having a bit of a problem getting Chromium. It seems that there are no builds for Chromium for armhf from Debian https://packages.debian.org/jessie/chromium. Also, if you go to http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/rasp ... m-browser/ to look in the Raspbian repos, you will notice that there are source packages for Chromium, but for some odd reason, there are no binary packages. Why are there no binary packages here? How can I install Chromium now? P.S. I want Chromium because I want a very advanced browser for my Raspberry Pi 2. I figured that Chromium would make good use of the Raspberry Pi 2's four processor cores because it uses a new process for each tab and plugin.

Thanks, but I'd like to be able to get Chromium out of a repo of some kind so that it would stay up-to-date. I guess I'll just get a different browser. Let me know if there is a better solution.

fyi Raspbian Jessie is still Testing and we are awaiting a stable release. ;)

IceWeasel (Firefox) Browser is in the Raspbian Repository and is at version 31ESR

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install iceweasel
https://packages.debian.org/jessie/iceweasel

If you want the latest chromium, install the linaro image. That comes with v41 and if you fiddle with your sources then you can get v43.
