MP3 player with GUI

I had been using Raspbmc and it IS a flawless, reliable MP3 player. Trouble is I also need a text editor and some other stuff on the PI I'm using so going to Raspian with an MP3 player installed.
So what would be a no frills, reliable player with a GUI for Raspian? No command line. Hopefully something that easily finds my USB stick and just plays it -- I do need random play as well.
Thanks very much.

I installed VLC on my RPi, seems to work fine. I don't know if it will automatically find your USB drive, but you can certainly point it to your USB drive.

You could try the mpd + Sonata combo, it's difficult to go lighter or simpler than this for a GUI music player

I use clementine. There is radio on it also.
Recommend you try it. It's pretty good.

I haven't tried any yet going to today and need to ask, when you install does it actually (and automatically) put a shortcut on the desktop in Raspian? I see now that MPG123 is a command line player and I could write a script with an Icon but no thanks.
-- thanks

and another question -- which one would consume less resources? I know VLC will do video which I don't need.

and yes, yet another question. Of all my choices what is in the Synaptic package manager right now? I need this easy -- very busy lately.
